Partners

For the next five years, America250 will partner with communities, states, tribes, federal agencies, nonprofits, cultural and educational institutions, governments, and brands around the country and the world to celebrate and commemorate 250 years of American independence.

In 2022, we’ll launch a searchable calendar and issue a call to action for partners from local towns to tribal reservations to international communities to activate around this milestone of American democracy. We hope you’ll join us.

Federal partnerships

America250’s Federal partners bring together all corners of the federal government, including executive agencies, independent agencies, commissions, boards, committees, and other related entities, to participate in the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Ex-officio partners listed in our enabling legislation (Pub. L. 114-196 and Pub. L. 116-282) include:

  • Institute of Museum and Library Services
  • Library of Congress
  • National Archives and Records Administration
  • National Endowment for the Arts
  • National Endowment for the Humanities
  • Smithsonian Institution
  • Supreme Court of the United States
  • United States Department of Defense
  • United States Department of Education
  • United States Department of Interior
  • United States Department of Justice
  • United States Department of State

State partnerships

America250 is encouraging each U.S. state and territory, as well as the District of Columbia, to form its own America250 commission or state-designated entity to plan for the nation’s 250th anniversary. Over the next five years, America250 will work in full partnership with each of these state and territorial entities to facilitate coordination and collaboration, and to ensure the broadest possible participation and visibility during this historic commemoration.

Tribal partnerships

America250 honors the unique government-to-government relationship between tribal nations and the United States, and we commit to partnering with tribal nations and organizations. As we kick off our efforts to support this historic commemoration, we will collaborate with tribal organizations, nations, and communities to engage with America’s complicated past, understand our present, and envision our future together as we build toward 2026 and beyond.
