Milestone underscores overwhelming bipartisan support with less than 100 days until America’s 250th anniversary

WASHINGTON, D.C. — April 29, 2026 — America250, the national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, today announced that the Congressional America250 Caucus has reached 400 members. Nearly 75% of Congress is now represented in the Caucus as the nation enters the final months before its Semiquincentennial.

Last year, America250 broke records to become the largest bicameral, bipartisan congressional caucus ever recorded in Congress. Now at 400 members, this historic milestone marks an unprecedented level of bipartisan participation in a Congressional caucus and signals a powerful, unified commitment to honoring America’s 250th anniversary. Achieved with fewer than three months until July 4, 2026, the growth reflects accelerating momentum and national engagement at a pivotal moment for the country.

“Our mission is not only to commemorate our history, but to strengthen the ties that bind us together. And in times like these, that charge feels more urgent than at any point in our lifetimes,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “We reached 350 members at the end of 2025, which already felt monumental. With three-quarters of Congress now represented, it is a clear demonstration that the Semiquincentennial transcends politics and speaks to something far greater: our shared history, our enduring ideals, and collective future. With the Fourth of July right around the corner, we are seeing momentum build across the country in a powerful way. Reaching 400 members of the Congressional America250 Caucus means more communities, more states and territories, and more Americans are being brought into this moment.”

The Congressional America250 Caucus has already played a significant role in raising awareness for the country’s 250th and engaging Americans. In February, Caucus members Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17), alongside Reps. Jared Moskowitz (FL-23), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Robert Aderholt (AL-04), Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27), and Dwight Evans (PA-03) introduced a bipartisan resolution expressing support for the designation of 2026 as the “National Year of the Volunteer,” honoring the millions of Americans who strengthen their communities through service and encouraging a renewed national commitment to volunteerism. The resolution helped raise awareness of America250’s program, America Gives, a nationwide initiative designed to make 2026 the largest year of volunteerism in U.S. history.

Caucus members regularly support America250 in other ways, including attending events; participating in Our American Story, an oral history collection program that has been connecting in their local communities; and promoting and sharing updates on America250 programs on social media and in communications.

The Caucus’ growth continues to reflect its broad bipartisan appeal, with current membership composed of approximately 45% Democrats and 55% Republicans. In states such as Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, North Dakota, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming, every member of the Congressional delegation — including all their state’s U.S. Senators and House Members — have joined the Caucus. Texas currently has the largest representation with 37 of 40 Members, followed by California with 36 of 54 Members, reflecting strong engagement across the country.

The Congressional America250 Caucus provides a bipartisan forum for Members of Congress and their staff to engage in planning, supporting, and promoting the nation’s 250th anniversary. As the country approaches July 4, 2026, Caucus members will continue to play a leading role in encouraging participation in America250’s local, state, and national initiatives—helping to engage Americans in every corner of the nation.A full list of Caucus members can be viewed on the Leadership Page at America250.org.

About America250

America250 is the national nonpartisan initiative working to engage every American in celebrating and commemorating the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is spearheaded by the congressionally-appointed U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and its sole-supporting nonprofit organization, America250.org, Inc., together known as America250. This multi-year effort kicked off with America’s Invitation on July 4, 2023: a national public engagement campaign inviting all Americans to share their stories and their hopes and dreams for the future of this country. Leading up to July 4, 2026, America250 is working to provide opportunities for all Americans to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look to the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
