America250 is the official organization charged by Congress with leading the nation in commemorating and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and America250.org, Inc., together known as America250, work together to design and lead the largest and most comprehensive and inspiring celebration in our country’s history. This multi-year effort aims to catalyze a more perfect union by honoring our first 250 years and inspiring the American spirit in all citizens.

Role Description

The Government Affairs Intern will support and advance the goals of America250 and the Government Affairs team. This position will provide administrative assistance to include, but not limited to, crafting letters, memos, emails, and reports, as directed; conduct research and prepare reports highlighting research results; and provide outreach assistance to contacts outside America250, including Congressional offices, state commission contacts, and others as assigned. In addition, this role will provide support in delivering correspondence and other materials to Capitol Hill offices and assist in the execution of meetings and events, including those held on Capitol Hill.

Essential Duties

This position will provide, but not limited to, the following:

  • Administrative and Documentation Support:
    • Craft letters, memos, emails, and reports as directed
    • Maintain and update records
    • Assist with internal communications and general office organization
  • Government Affairs Support:
    • Deliver invitations, correspondence, and other materials to Congressional offices
    • Assist with caucus invitations, scheduling, and meeting coordination
    • Support the tracking and updating of state and territory engagement materials
  • Event and Outreach Support:
    • Support America250 events by helping with planning, setup, and materials preparation
    • Provide logistical support during meetings and events, including setup and hospitality
    • Assist in outreach-related tasks with external partners as assigned
