Company Description

America250 is the official organization charged by Congress with leading the nation in commemorating and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and America250.org, Inc., together known as America250, work together to design and lead the largest and most comprehensive and inspiring celebration in our country’s history. This multi-year effort aims to catalyze a more perfect union by honoring our first 250 years and inspiring the American spirit in all citizens.

Role Description

This position reports to the Program Manager of the Commission. The Project Manager (PM) provides project schedule development, which includes the support and execution for the Tentpole Programs outlined in the Commissions’ Playbook. This position will ensure the completeness and accuracy of project schedules; continuity, programming, and execution of the Tentpoles, administration and reporting of key events, activities, risks, issues and concerns related to schedule integration. Projects overseen and managed by the position are identified by high program visibility, executing initiatives with extensive oversight and reporting responsibilities. The PM provides detailed attention to program strategy, project delegation, project tracking and program implementation.

This position will need to work closely with the Professional Services Team and project teams to ensure success. This position may also need to communicate with the Chair, Executive Director (ED), an/or the Executive Vice President (EVP), make recommendations, and monitor the progress of the projects to keep it on schedule.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or 3 years of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, or Master’s or Professional degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years’ experience.

  • Experience leading and managing large complex projects for organizations in their engagement efforts
  • Flexible hands-on leader and collaborative team player
  • Superior organizational, planning, and project management skills
  • Uncompromising ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work using the highest level of discretion
  • Follow all policies and procedures of America250 as required, including but not limited to, document retention
  • Attend or facilitate trainings and onboardings as needed
  • Provide support to the Commission as needed, including, but not limited to, attending meetings in a support capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Additional Agile or similar project management certifications
  • Experience in Salesforce
  • Experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, and project management
  • Strong presentation skills
  • People management experience

  • Ability to execute at a high level with minimal supervision and deliver practical solutions in a timely manner
  • Proven track record of driving results through effective project management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in time-sensitive environments and proven ability to perform when under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take responsibility for day-to-day decision-making
