Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day finance and complex accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance regulations. This includes but is not limited to managing accounts receivable and payable, contributions, approximately $30 million in grants, 80 million for fundraising, and 5 million in licensing and royalties’ revenues. This position ensures timely reconciliation of accounts and the preparation of financial statements and donor reports. The Sr. Accountant, at their discretion, prepares periodic financial analyses for the organization leadership and other key stakeholders; and maintains fiscal records. In addition, the Sr. Account plays a lead role in facilitating the annual audits by working closely with the external auditors, including preparation and provision of information requested by the auditors.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in financial accounting in non-profit organizations or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and compliance reporting for 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in spreadsheet software like Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience using QuickBooks online for business.
  • Solid experience working with external auditors and has led to the successful execution of an independent audit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of payroll processing and benefits administration working with a PEO (outsourced payroll and benefits administration).
  • Ability to support various departments and foster teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand revenue and expense allocations and can track those allocations against budgets.
  • Proficient in using excel for pivot and lookup table.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to details.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other departments and management.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,563 – $124,200
  • Hiring Range: $92,000 – $100,000
  • 4 weeks Vacation, full benefits, 12 holidays, Winter Break
  • 401(k) match
