In light of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Humanities Nebraska and the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues are partnering to bring bestselling author Nathaniel Philbrick to Lincoln on October 27, 2026 to discuss "Revolutionary Ambition: America at 250." This 31st annual Governor's Lecture in the Humanities will be a free public program starting at 7:30 pm at the Lied Center for Performing Arts (it also will be livestreamed). The program focus will be on Philbrick's three bestselling books related to the American Revolution: "Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution;" "Valiant Ambition: George Washington, Benedict Arnold, and the Fate of the American Revolution;" and "In the Hurricane's Eye: The Genius of George Washington and the Victory at Yorktown." Humanities Nebraska also has a benefit reception and dinner prior to the free public program. More information can be found at www.humanitiesnebraska.org, with updates to come.
