Experience the sight, sound, and smell of an 18th c. traveling forge at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield historic site Friday and Saturday. We are lucky to have Jymm return to Sackets Harbor again this season. His appearance at last year’s North American War of 1812 Grand Tactical drew a non-stop crowd around his traveling blacksmith forge. With the sound of a crackling fire, Jymm crafts traditional and custom iron items while he travels the Northeast and Midwest at living history events. What does a blacksmith make? Gates, grilles, railings, light fixtures, furniture, sculpture, tools, agricultural implements, decorative and religious items, cooking utensils, and weapons. Leading workshops from New England to Pennsylvania his refined craftsmanship skills are shared with visitors at the forge. Stop by to chat with Jymm and learn about blacksmithing during the early American years.
