Step into the colorful world of Leola Warnock Freeman, a trailblazing impressionist and portrait artist who helped shape El Paso’s 20th-century art scene. A 1934 Public Works of Art Project awardee, Freeman’s work—ranging from intimate family portraits to sweeping landscapes—still graces public spaces across the city today. Join her descendant, Jennifer Moxley, for an image-rich lecture exploring Freeman’s remarkable life, legacy, and the vibrant art community she helped build. This lecture will take place on March 19, 2026 at the Magoffin Home Visitor Center at 1117 Magoffin Avenue. This free lecture will feature many historical documents, drawings, atworks, and resources. Light refreshments and beverages will be available as a fundraiser for the Casa Magoffin Compañeros beginning at 6 PM. The talk will start at 6:30 and will be in English, but staff will be available to answer questions in Spanish.
