To commemorate America's 250th birthday and the 9/11 National Day of Service, Guide Dog Foundation & America's VetDogs will invite our New York neighbors to a Volunteer Open House on September 10, 2026. The Volunteer Open House will be used as an activation in recognition and participation of the programming surrounding America 250 and the 9/11 National Day of Service.

The event will focus on providing community members with hands-on, on-site volunteer experiences, opportunities and information (emphasis on puppy raising, breeder caretakers, temp homes, etc.), while offering opportunities to donate and/or fundraise on behalf of either or both organizations.

We will invite our community to visit our facilities to participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities available across the campus throughout the day, including scheduled volunteer activations for corporate partners, service groups, and community organizations.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, activities will be tailored to different age groups and civic organizations, with each group rotating through three unique volunteer experiences. The morning will conclude with a brief presentation highlighting recent organizational milestones and major initiatives.

From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the event will open to the public, inviting community members to explore volunteer stations, interactive demonstrations, and informational tables.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities while learning more about the wide range of volunteer opportunities available. A virtual component of the event will also be made available.

Giving 4th

A new tradition starts now.

We’ve always been a nation of givers. Imagine what could happen if we all gave at the same time. Introducing Giving 4th, our campaign that calls on all Americans to add something new to their July 4th celebrations: giving back to the causes and communities they care about.
Join the new tradition — take the pledge.
