The American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit is a partnership between the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the American Battlefield Trust. Through display panels and interactive digital kiosks, the exhibit surfaces diverse viewpoints and experiences, delving into the literal and figurative journeys of Patriots, Loyalists, men, women, Black and Native populations, and international allies. It introduces audiences to the drummer boys, military mapmakers, and other ordinary individuals deeply affected by global events. Displays of the exhibit in Texas include two additional panels explaining the contributions of the state to the Revolutionary War.

Four Austin-area DAR chapters – Andrew Carruthers, Austin Colony, Balcones and Thankful Hubbard – have partnered with Austin Community College’s Center for Government and Civic Service (CGCS) to host the exhibit April 15-25 in their event facility on the Rio Grande Campus. DAR members are hosting genealogy workshops to help visitors discover their own family ties to the Revolution, and a Community Day on Saturday, April 25 focusing on family-friendly events and programming.

Together, these opportunities will highlight the diverse stories and voices of those who shaped the nation’s founding and honor the men and women who secured American independence while inspiring reflection on the nation’s shared heritage and enduring ideals of liberty and unity.

The public may view the exhibit from April 15-25 at the CGCS event facility at ACC’s Rio Grande Campus, Bldg. 3000, 1218 West Ave., Austin from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and on Saturday, April 25 (Community Day). (Evening viewing hours are also available on Monday, April 20 from 4-8 p.m.)
