For the first time since 2012, the Boots of Honor Memorial is leaving military installations and standing in the heart of Tennessee — open to the public during America’s 250th year.
7,470 individual combat boots.
Each one represents a U.S. service member killed in combat since 9/11.
They are placed in chronological order, moving year by year through 24 years of war.
These are not replica boots. They are real. Worn. Carried. Some hold photographs. Some carry dog tags. Some include handwritten notes from Gold Star families. Each boot represents a life that was lived, loved, and lost.
Boots of Honor creates space for civilians and military families to stand together — to read the names, to pause, and to remember.
Presented by Memories of Honor, a Nashville-based nonprofit founded by a Blue Star mother of GySgt Zych, USMC, the memorial exists to ensure those who gave their lives are remembered as people, not headlines — and that their families are never forgotten.
Visitors are invited to walk the formation and experience a national memorial built on dignity, respect, and shared responsibility.
