In celebration of Juneteenth, Bowne House will be offering guided tours inspired by the enduring legacy of abolition and anti-slavery activism in Flushing and beyond. Topics will include anti-slavery activities of Long Island Quakers in the New York Meeting during the Revolutionary Era; Bowne-Parsons family members’ participation in a network of the Underground Railroad; and abolition, education, and fundraising efforts related to the Bowne family. Visitors will also be able to view copies of original documents from the Bowne House Archives, rare items from the Bowne House Collection, and more! Tours are about 45 minutes in duration. Tickets are purchased upon entry to the museum and no pre-registration is required. Simply arrive at the house 5 to 10 minutes before one of the designated start times and pay for admission via cash or credit card. Tours begin at 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:15pm
