On 3–4 March 1776, the Continental Marines conducted the first amphibious assault on foreign soil in the Bahamas, seizing military supplies and making history as America's first overseas landing during the early days of the Revolutionary War.
Pompano Beach is the closest logical location on the US mainland to the historic landing site. Its location and patriotic community make it an ideal place to honor the legacy of the Continental Marines.
