Philip Schuyler was one of the first Major Generals appointed by the Continental Congress, but his path to adopting the cause of American independence was far from direct. Follow Schuyler’s journey from the hope of reconciliation to revolution, learning along the way about his contributions as the commander of the Northern Department of the Continental Army. Hear about his involvements in major military actions like the Invasion of Canada and the Battle of Saratoga- culminating in his court-martial following the loss of Fort Ticonderoga. Join an interpreter from Schuyler Mansion State Historic site to get an in-depth look at the struggles, triumphs, and devastating losses of a complex figure and his role in the Revolution.
