Growing Roots: From Ancient Earth to Endless Sky – Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday (1776–2026) is a four-day, free community youth camp celebrating America’s 250th anniversary by connecting students in grades 1–6 to the nation’s and state's natural, cultural, and historical foundations through hands-on learning. Held May 27–30, 2026, the camp features daily activities including earth science exploration, Indigenous cultural learning, wildlife conservation education, art inspired by nature and history, and interactive storytelling, culminating in a family celebration event. Participants include local children and their families, with programming delivered in partnership with the Jennie Trent Dew Library, Goldthwaite Theatre, Mills County Historical Museum, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and Indigenous cultural contributors from the Georgetown Powwow, ensuring an inclusive educational experience that fosters appreciation for heritage, environment, and community connections central to the Texas America 250 initiative.
