“Repose of the Fallen:” Reinterment Of Historic Remains

This event is the culmination of a 7-year-long collaborative effort to recover and reinter the remains of 44 individuals, believed to be revolutionary war-era patriots or camp followers who took part in battles in the Lake George area including from the 1st Pennsylvania Battalion (1775-1776), who were found at a construction site on Courtland Street in the Village of Lake George. The Courtland Street Reinterment Committee, on behalf of the Town of Lake George, has been spearheading the effort with local, county and state partners, including the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the NYS Museum. The event will include state leaders' remarks and a ceremony to reinter some of the recovered remains. This event is free to attend and registration is not required.
