Celebrate the opening of Tilting West, our summer exhibition exploring evolving perspectives of the American West and Western art, on view June 4–August 23, 2026. The free opening reception on June 4 invites the community to gather, enjoy complimentary food and beverages, and connect with artists whose work challenges traditional Western narratives and amplifies historically underrepresented voices.
The evening includes a live, site-responsive performance by Colorado artist William Rumley, who combines his artistic practice with the craft of fly tying. Rooted in storytelling and theatrical devices, Rumley's work explores performance in nature, often presented through mechanical and indexical forms. His live creation of handcrafted fishing flies reflects personal and cultural narratives tied to landscape, labor, and tradition in the American West.
As part of the America250–Colorado150 commemoration, this event honors Colorado's shared history by celebrating the diverse communities and voices that continue to shape it. By uplifting inclusive perspectives and contemporary interpretations of place, the exhibition contributes to a broader dialogue about identity, heritage, and the evolving story of the American West.
