Fort Smith Museum of History will host this traveling exhibit from Old State House Museum as part of our ongoing America's 250th Celebration series. Event opening is Tuesday June 2nd at FSMH. Event remains on display throughout the month of June during regular operating hours, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. This exhibit examines the myths and realities that gave rise to Arkansas's reputation as a backwards, lawless, isolated state populated by hillbillies, moonshiners, and bears. From the "The Arkansas Traveler" and "The Big Bear of Arkansas" to "The Beverly Hillbillies" and Dogpatch, USA, this exhibit enhances the understanding of the Natural State and its reputation--and misrepresentation--across the nation and around the world. Free for Fort Smith Museum of History members. $10 adults; $8 seniors/veterans/1st responders; $6 kids 6-15; free under 5.
