The story of women’s suffrage is a story of voting rights, of inclusion in and exclusion from the franchise, and of our civic development as a nation. Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence, a poster exhibition from the Smithsonian, celebrates over 100 years of the Nineteenth Amendment and explores the complexity of the women’s suffrage movement and the relevance of this history to Americans’ lives today. This traveling exhibition aligns with ongoing efforts to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States and invites visitors to reflect on its continued relevance in today’s world.

Giving 4th

A new tradition starts now.

We’ve always been a nation of givers. Imagine what could happen if we all gave at the same time. Introducing Giving 4th, our campaign that calls on all Americans to add something new to their July 4th celebrations: giving back to the causes and communities they care about.
Join the new tradition — take the pledge.
