What does America mean to you?

After surviving the Holocaust, my great-grandparents struggled to rebuild their broken lives. They had no family, money, or home but longed to create a bright future for their family. America beckoned, offering them a haven of peace, freedom, and opportunity; a chance to finally heal and begin life anew.
After a tedious journey, they arrived. The Statue of Liberty filled their broken hearts with hope and promise.
To me, America means peace, freedom, security, and opportunity. While my great-grandparents had to hide their Jewish identity, I can proudly call myself an American-Jew. I am happy to call America my home.
