What does America mean to you?

By Kendyl C.
Kingston, New York

What America means to me is that I remember my ancestors, reflect on lessons I have learned and plot positive changes in my neighborhood. My history consists of my great-grandmother, fighting for women’s rights in the military, WAVES, in World War II. She was also in newspaper articles that gained popularity in the late 1900s. In addition the work of my great-grandmother impacts the freedom of women today. It is with civic engagement that I can join millions of Americans striving for a better future for women.
