Then, savor a multi-course Cajun and Creole meal during a culinary demonstration by a local chef at the New Orleans School of Cooking, each dish paired with rich cultural stories. As you traverse the streets of Lower Manhattan, you’ll walk in Hamilton’s footsteps and uncover exciting stories about his vital contributions to the founding of our nation and the significant events that shaped our history. That evening, watch some of the stories you heard on the tour come to life on stage in the hit musical HAMILTON on Broadway! You’ll also get an exclusive visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, learning about the attacks, its impact on the United States, and the legacy of service that followed. Participants will receive a private tour from a member of the education team and hear from an individual who experienced the attacks firsthand. Finally, travel up to the One World Observatory at the top of One World Trade Center for a bird’s eye view of New York City. (Middle and high school only)

In the evening, join park rangers for a special candlelight tour of Fort Point beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, traveling through time to trace the fort’s history from the Gold Rush era to present day. National Museum of American History in Washington, DC

Embark on the journey of a lifetime at the brand new National Geographic Museum of Exploration (the MOE), learning the Explorer Mindset and discovering firsthand what it takes to become a National Geographic Explorer. Students will be among the first to visit this state-of-the-art public attraction and have the opportunity for curated one-on-one interactions and immersive learning experiences from some of our most engaging Explorers. Then, when the doors close to the public, head to the Smithsonian Sleepover at American History for a private, after-hours adventure. Explore the special 250th anniversary exhibit, participate in hands-on activities and games, and experience this iconic museum on the National Mall like never before. When the games wind down, roll out your sleeping bag and spend the night surrounded by history! (Elementary and middle school only)

With a special visit to the vaults — almost never opened to the public — you will get an up-close view of historic treasures like General George Washington’s Oath Card, the check that purchased Alaska, and more. Marvel at the legendary collection Thomas Jefferson sold to Congress, then venture beyond the public halls on a behind-the-scenes tour led by expert staff, descending through hidden underground tunnels to cutting-edge preservation labs and secret stacks. Cap off the experience by climbing to the balcony of the Jefferson Building’s iconic dome to take in breathtaking views of Capitol Hill. Discover George Washington’s Mount Vernon and learn what life was like for America’s first president, his family, and the people who lived and worked on his estate. Join a curator-led Mansion tour to see the Key to the Bastille, gifted by the Marquis de Lafayette, and the recently refurbished Washington bedchamber, along with exclusive access to spaces off-view to most visitors. Continue to the Museum and the newly reimagined Education Center exhibition, where original Washington objects and archaeological discoveries come to life through. Then, step inside the George Washington Presidential Library Rare Book Suite to examine Washington’s personal letters, private correspondence, and Revolutionary War maps.
