With signature events in New York City, Philadelphia, North Dakota, and California, plus Main Street celebrations nationwide, the Semiquincentennial will come alive in communities everywhere.

We’ll dedicate the official America250 Time Capsule at Independence Hall, potentially in coordination with a special session of the United States Congress. The capsule will contain items that help tell the story of America at 250 and will be opened during America’s 500th birthday year in 2276.

Times Square Ball Drop

Join the Semiquincentennial countdown to July 4, 2026, in Times Square with the iconic Ball Drop Celebration on the evening of July 3, 2026 — the first time the ball has been dropped outside of December 31. In partnership with One Times Square, we’ll transform the heart of New York into a weekend-long celebration featuring special exhibits, musical performances, and other experiences.
