The Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist to Encourage Nationwide Volunteerism, Acts of Kindness and Participation in Giving 4th

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 14, 2026 – America250, the national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, today announced that three-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time Olympian Shaun White will serve as the official ambassador for America Gives, its nationwide initiative to make 2026 the most impactful year of volunteerism in U.S. history.

In this role, White will help mobilize Americans to give back through volunteerism, acts of kindness and charitable contributions in the lead-up to the nation’s 250th anniversary, supporting key initiatives including Good Neighbor Day America and Giving 4th.

“America’s 250th is an opportunity to bring people together in ways that go beyond celebration,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “Shaun’s leadership and commitment to giving back will inspire Americans across the country to take part and make an impact in their communities.”

A Nationwide Call to Give Back

Launched at the start of 2026, America Gives invites individuals, organizations and communities to contribute their time and resources in ways that strengthen neighborhoods nationwide. The initiative has already generated more than 8.4M volunteer hours, building momentum toward a record-setting year of service.

As ambassador, White will spotlight ways Americans can get involved, from local volunteer opportunities to national moments of participation, making it easier for people to take action in their own communities.

“Giving back and volunteerism is something I really value in my life, and I’m proud to be part of something that brings people together like America Gives,” said Shaun White. “This is a chance for every American to show up for our communities and be part of something bigger.”

Building Momentum Toward Giving 4th

White will also help amplify Giving 4th, America250’s nationwide effort to make July 4, 2026 the largest single day of charitable giving in U.S. history.

First introduced as part of America250’s July 4 programming, Giving 4th invites Americans to support causes they care about as part of the nation’s birthday, creating a new mid-year moment for philanthropy to complement traditional year-end giving.

A nationally broadcast Giveathon and coordinated efforts across nonprofits, corporations and communities will anchor the initiative, bringing together donations from across the country in a single, shared moment of impact.

Driving Impact Through the Semiquincentennial

In the months ahead, White will participate in volunteer activations, media engagements and digital campaigns to encourage participation in America Gives and key moments like Good Neighbor Day America and Giving 4th.

Together, these efforts aim to ensure the nation’s 250th anniversary is marked not only by celebration, but by meaningful, collective action across communities nationwide.
