New Partner Commitments Fuel Ambitious Push for Largest Year of Service in American History

WASHINGTON, D.C. — March 16, 2026 — America250, the national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to lead celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, today announced that America Gives surpassed 2.50 million volunteer hours nationwide. The milestone marks significant momentum in America250’s effort to make 2026 the largest year of service in American history.

“As I’ve met with partner organizations and community leaders across the country, I’ve felt a real groundswell of Americans eager to serve and reconnect,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “Surpassing 2.5 million volunteer hours confirms what I’ve been seeing firsthand — that service is bringing people together in powerful ways. America Gives is tapping into that momentum and channeling it toward our 250th anniversary, reminding us that service has always been at the heart of who we are as a nation.”

Launched on January 1, 2026, America Gives unites individuals, businesses, nonprofits, schools, faith communities, and civic groups around a shared commitment to service and community impact.

Americans can log volunteer hours at America250.org/America-Gives. Participants can also upload stories and photos, explore service opportunities aligned with their interests, and inspire others to get involved.

Growing Network of Partners

  • A culture of service has been central to building America’s legacy, and it is also core to Citi’s mission of enabling growth and progress. That’s why Citi is dedicating its 2026 Global Community Day (GCD) campaign in the U.S. to America250’s America Gives program. Year-round and during the 21st annual GCD this June, Citi colleagues, alumni, family and friends take large and small actions that have a positive impact in the communities we serve.

The cleanup begins April 1 and is open to all Americans. ScottsMiracle-Gro has long encouraged volunteerism through the Give Back to Gro program that provides paid time off to support important causes.
  • Looking ahead, Southwest Airlines will help volunteers log even more hours as the official airline of America Gives.
  • Target‘s commitment to strengthening communities dates back more than 100 years in its company history. This year, the company’s more than 400,000 team members will continue contributing their time locally, working toward Target’s annual goal of 1 million volunteer hours, supporting local organizations and helping fuel growth and opportunity in the communities where Target operates.
  • Partnering with America250 honors United Airlines’ shared commitment to community, with their employees actively giving back in the 200+ communities they serve nationwide. This year, they’re encouraging associate volunteerism to unlock additional grants for local organizations. All volunteer hours logged on the Spark Good platform will count toward America Gives.
Professional Sports Leagues

Leading professional sports leagues are embedding America Gives into their America250 partnerships, a signal that this milestone is as much about service and collective action as celebration.

From honoring Dr. King’s legacy to bringing the basketball community together during All-Star and mobilizing employees and fans during Week of Service, the NBA is helping to advance a broader commitment to service and to strengthening communities across the country.
