Milestone builds momentum for Giving 4th, America250’s upcoming national call to give back on July 4

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 18, 2026) – America250 today announced that America Gives, its nationwide service initiative, surpassed 10 million volunteer service hours, marking a major milestone in the effort to make 2026 the largest year of volunteer service in American history.

The achievement comes as America250 prepares to launch Giving 4th, a new national initiative that seeks to add a new tradition to Independence Day celebrations: giving back.

Launched on January 1, 2026 America Gives invites individuals, nonprofits, schools, companies, faith communities, civic organizations, and local leaders to pledge service, log volunteer hours, and find opportunities to give back in their communities. Through America Gives, participants can add their hours to a national counter, upload stories and photos, and help showcase the collective impact being made across the country.

The program is built around a simple idea: America’s 250th is not only a moment to look back, but a call to step forward. From food drives and mentoring programs to neighborhood cleanups, disaster relief, veteran support, and community service projects, Americans are turning the Semiquincentennial into a year of action.

“Surpassing 10 million volunteer service hours is a powerful testament to the generosity, compassion and civic spirit of the American people,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “This milestone belongs to the millions of Americans who have dedicated their time to strengthening their communities and to the organizations, nonprofits and partners who have helped make America Gives a nationwide movement.”

America250 is the only national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to help lead the celebration and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Its mission is to engage all 350 million Americans through national programming, major events, partnerships and public participation opportunities.

Giving 4th: A New July 4 Tradition of Charitable Giving

Building on the national momentum behind America Gives, America250 is spearheading Giving 4th, a new national initiative that transforms our nation’s birthday into an annual celebration of charitable giving.

Using this once-in-a-generation platform of the Semiquincentennial, America250 is inviting Americans, nonprofits, corporations, and communities to help build something that lasts far beyond 2026: a movement that makes charitable giving a defining part of how our nation celebrates Independence Day – every year.

Giving 4th addresses declining charitable giving and the summer funding gap experienced by many nonprofits while creating something even more enduring: a cultural tradition that future generations can inherit. If successful, Giving 4th will become a lasting national tradition and one of the enduring legacies of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

This summer, Americans are encouraged to visit America250.org to support a nonprofit of their choosing and take part in Giving 4th as the country celebrates July 4.

America250 Sponsors and Partners Leading the Charge

The generous contributions of America250 sponsors, nonprofit partners and community organizations nationwide have been pivotal to the America Gives program’s success, from encouraging participation through employee volunteer programs and grant initiatives to spearheading community service commitments.

  • As the nation prepares to mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Comcast NBCUniversal is marking the milestone by deepening its long-standing commitment to service. Employees are at the heart of this impact, giving their time and talents in ways large and small: mentoring young people and helping them imagine new futures, serving on the boards of local nonprofits and community organizations, volunteering their professional skills to causes that need them, and coming together for national moments of service like 9/11 Day. This milestone represents not only a moment of reflection, but an opportunity for continued action to help build stronger, more connected communities for the future.
  • For 150 years, Jockey has been guided by the belief that service, integrity, and innovation define progress. Through America Gives, they are honoring that commitment as they aim to triple their volunteer and service hours in 2026, strengthening communities nationwide.

In 2025, T-Mobile and the T-Mobile Foundation donated $38.2 million to 19,000 nonprofits nationwide, with employees contributing an additional $2.4 million and more than 92,000 volunteer hours. And, through Project 10Million, they provide free internet access and mobile hotspots to eligible K-12 student families across the country. By the end of 2025, the program had connected nearly 6.7 million students nationwide and delivered $8.3 billion in in kind products and services. T-Mobile also has a longstanding national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, helping connect students and families to the resources they need. Now they’re excited to activate employees on their campuses in support of America Gives through blood drives and back-to-school supply drives. They’ll also provide virtual giving opportunities and encourage participation in the National First Responder’s Day public nomination campaign, reinforcing T-Mobile’s year-round commitment to the first responder community.

Leading professional sports leagues have also integrated America Gives into their America250 partnerships, helping engage fans, employees, athletes and communities through volunteerism and service.
