On Saturday, November 29, America250 Chair Rosie Rios and Commissioner Jimmy Rane brought the Our American Story initiative to Auburn University for the Iron Bowl, joining Tiger fans at Jordan-Hare Stadium for the annual college football game against the University of Alabama. As we count down to the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, our mission is to elevate the voices and experiences that make America unique — and there was no better backdrop than one of the most iconic college football games in the country.

Through Our American Story, America250, in partnership with Airstream and Stellantis, is traveling across the country to collect and share the diverse stories that shape who we are as a people. At the Iron Bowl, this effort came to life through an interactive experience on Auburn’s campus, inviting fans from all walks of life to share their American stories, whether rooted in military service, family legacy, civil rights, or cultural traditions.

Visitors to the America250 activation area were able to record their personal stories and learn how their individual experiences contribute to the larger American narrative. From students and alumni to veterans and first-time visitors, the Iron Bowl offered a rich cross-section of voices that reflect Alabama’s and America’s spirit.

The America250 logo was also prominently featured on the 50 yard line of the field and in both end zones during the game offering a moment of national, televised recognition for the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission.

“We know that sports have always played a vital role in American life,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “By showing up at iconic moments like the Iron Bowl, we’re able to meet people where they are and invite them into this once-in-a-generation celebration of our country’s journey.”

As we approach July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Our American Story will continue to visit cities, towns, and campuses across the country. Each stop builds momentum toward a national celebration that reflects the full breadth of the American experience.

The Iron Bowl was more than a game this year. It was a reminder that no matter our team colors or hometowns, we all have a story to tell—and that story is what makes America.
