America250 to Launch Nationwide, Multi-Year Effort to Commemorate Semiquincentennial on July 4th at American Family Field as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Chicago Cubs

Nextdoor, YWCA USA join historic effort as official partners
(Milwaukee, WI) – The United States Semiquincentennial Commission, also known as America250, the official nonpartisan entity charged with planning and orchestrating the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, is kicking off the three-year countdown to 2026 with “America’s Invitation,” a new nationwide public awareness and engagement campaign encouraging every American to be part of this historic commemoration.
America250 will launch America’s Invitation on Independence Day at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisc., when the Milwaukee Brewers host their historic division rivals, the Chicago Cubs. America250 is also proud to announce that Nextdoor, an app dedicated to connecting neighborhoods, and YWCA USA, the nation’s oldest and largest women’s organization, have officially joined America250 as partners.
Pre-game programming will feature the debut of the America’s Invitation launch video and a press conference with key partners and guests. Fans will have the opportunity to learn more about America250 and participate directly in “America’s Invitation” by visiting a booth located on the concourse and recording a video that tells their own American story.
“America’s 250th anniversary belongs to all of us, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to be a part of it. That’s why we’re launching the countdown to 2026 with America’s Invitation: an invitation for all Americans to share their own unique American stories and their hopes for our future,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and former Treasurer of the United States. “Commemorating America’s 250th is a chance to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, to honor the contributions made by generations of Americans, and to envision the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond. We’re honored to launch this effort in the nation’s heartland at American Family Field as we build momentum and excitement on this multi-year journey to 2026.”

Over the next three years, America250 will continue to host commemorative events in every state and territory, together with America250 state commissions and community leaders, inviting all Americans to reflect on the nation’s past, honor the contributions by Americans from all walks of life, and look to the future for the next generation and beyond. America250 will also partner with leading national organizations as part of the multi-year effort, including Nextdoor and YWCA USA.
America’s Invitation: Building the Largest, Most Inclusive Commemoration in History
On July 4th, 2023, America250 is launching America’s Invitation: an opportunity for all Americans to get involved in the countdown to our nation’s Semiquincentennial. America’s Invitation will encourage all Americans to share their own unique American stories — about their communities, culture, neighborhoods and more — and their hopes and dreams for the future. Americans can submit photos, videos, essays, artwork, songs, and other content at stories.America250.org. America250 will feature this content on its website, on social media, at commemorative events, and through partner organizations. Together, the content shared with America250 will create a portrait of America at 250 to pass down to future generations.
