“From the events leading to our nation’s Declaration of Independence in 1776, we have relied on selfless patriots willing to put their lives on the line in pursuit of a more perfect union. Nearly 250 years later, on this Memorial Day, we honor more than one million such Americans who have fallen so that we might live our lives in peace and safety, and recognize the continued sacrifice of their families and loved ones. We are also grateful and support those brave service members who risk their lives confronting future threats to protect this nation and its ideals. As part of the semiquincentennial, America250 will proudly work with every branch of the military to reflect the historic and unrivaled contributions of those who served, continue to serve, and those who died for this country.”
