  • Humane World for Animals

I’m a policy volunteer with Humane World for Animals, an organization that seeks to create a more humane society for animals throughout the world through public education, supporting the passage of laws, investigating  cruelty, rescuing animals in need, and many other efforts. My love for animals started when I was a child, and Humane World for Animals has let me give voice and action to my commitment to them in so many ways. I have lobbied for laws to protect animals in Virginia and through the nation, published opinion letters on critical issues facing animals, commented on various regulations and policies being considered by state and federal agencies, helped to rescue animals from cruel situations, shared information with members of the public at events, and mentored other volunteers.

One of the incredible benefits of volunteering with Humane World for Animals is that I can take advantage of their tremendous resources, experience, knowledge, influence, and amazing staff, to help augment my own efforts, giving greater impact to the work I do. Helping the most vulnerable animals, those with urgent needs, here and around the world, has been one of the great experiences of my life. An unexpected benefit is the joy I find working with — being with — those who care so deeply for someone other than themselves, simply out of human kindness. Volunteers bring out the best in who we are.

Giving 4th

A new tradition starts now.

We’ve always been a nation of givers. Imagine what could happen if we all gave at the same time. Introducing Giving 4th, our campaign that calls on all Americans to add something new to their July 4th celebrations: giving back to the causes and communities they care about.
Join the new tradition — take the pledge.
