Ambassador (retired) Allan Mustard capped nearly 38 years of public service, 34 of them as a Foreign Service Officer and as U.S. ambassador to Turkmenistan. Prior foreign assignments included Moscow (twice), Istanbul, Vienna, Mexico City, and New Delhi, where he was an agricultural officer with the Foreign Agricultural Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. Ambassador Mustard speaks fluent Russian. The transcript of his oral history interview is on the website of the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training.
