Eduardo Vilaro

Eduardo Vilaro joined Ballet Hispánico as Artistic Director in August 2009, becoming only the second person to head the company since it was founded in 1970. In 2015, Mr. Vilaro took on the additional role of Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Vilaro has infused Ballet Hispánico’s legacy with a vision centered on uplifting the voices of the Latinx(a/o) community, through programming that builds leadership and new narratives for our arts landscape. As an arts leader, he sits on boards that further the field of dance and gives vital support to all artists. He is a board member of Dance NYC, New York’s resource and advocacy organization, as well as a member of The National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron. The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Mr. Vilaro received the Ruth Page Award for choreography in 2001; was inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame in 2016; In October of 2021, he was named one of 50 Culture Champions by Forbes Magazine. He is a respected speaker on such topics as diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts, as well as on the merits of the intersectionality of cultures and the importance of nurturing and building Latinx leaders.
