Julie Herr
Director of the Office of the Executive Director and Chair
Julie Herr joined the Commission staff in November of 2022, bringing with her a proven track record of managing daily and long-term operations as well as strategic scheduling and events in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the Commission, Julie worked in the Office of the Secretary at both the Department of Treasury and the Department of Health and Human Services as well as the Executive Office at Fannie Mae.
When not working, Julie enjoys volunteering with local organizations, reading and taking walks with her Golden Retriever. She traces her love of history – and this country’s founding – to a book she read in the fourth grade called My Brother Sam is Dead, a historical fiction novel about a Connecticut family, and town, torn apart by the Revolutionary War. Her passion for American history carried through to her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with a degree in American Studies.
