Kevin C. Miller
Kevin C. Miller, a disabled veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was appointed Associate National Communications Director of the more than 1 million-member DAV (Disabled American Veterans) in August 2022 and works at DAV’s Washington Headquarters.
As the Associate National Communications Director, Miller’s responsibilities include supporting a variety of DAV’s public relations and internal communications programs, including strategic planning, media relations, speechwriting, social media, and content creation, including press releases, op-eds, magazines and articles, e-newsletters and podcasts.
Miller, a California native, served as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006. He served with 1st Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security, deploying to Iraq, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Djibouti from 2003 to 2005. He deployed to Iraq once more with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, while serving there from 2005 to 2006.
Miller has been active in veterans’ advocacy for over a decade. He primarily focused on education, employment, housing, healthcare, and veteran benefits through his work with Swords to Plowshares and the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. He has worked extensively with diverse subpopulations of veterans, including students, seniors, LGBTQ+, women, and homeless veterans, and has been a Truman National Security Project Defense Council Member since 2021.
He is a life member of DAV Chapter 16 in California and DAV Chapter 4 in Maryland. He has earned a master’s of public administration degree from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly Humboldt. He is also a member of Pi Alpha Alpha, a global honors society for public affairs and administration. Miller and his wife, Libby, reside in Silver Spring, Maryland, with their two dogs, Arya and Reesie.
