Sara Capen

Sara Capen is a visionary, collaborative, and results-focused national executive leader with a proven success record in identifying challenges and providing large-scale infrastructure solutions on a city, regional and national level that drive economic development. In addition, she has skillfully designed and implemented tourism heritage products that have improved inclusivity and driven substantial economic advancement for over a decade in Niagara Falls.
Most recently, as Chairperson of the Alliance of National Heritage Areas, Capen led a national Congressional advocacy campaign resulting in the successful passage of the National Heritage Area Act of 2002. Capen has displayed her commitment to Niagara Falls, New York, and Niagara County as the Executive Director leading the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area (NFNHA) since its inception in 2011.
