Fans of taiko drumming, teriyaki chicken, sake, and Japanese artwork and wares will not want to miss the 52nd Annual Denver Cherry Blossom Festival, or “Sakura Matsuri” in Japanese. Held at Sakura Square in the heart of downtown Denver, the festival celebrates Japanese heritage and culture through live entertainment, food and drink, a marketplace, and informative exhibits and demonstrations. As our state and country celebrate milestone anniversaries with America’s 250 and Colorado’s 150th year, the Denver Cherry Blossom Festival is a joyful reminder of how Japanese and Japanese American culture has become a vibrant, inseparable part of the Colorado and American experience. The Japanese-themed marketplace will have you browsing through jewelry, anime, pottery, fine art, apparel and more. The marketplace also includes informational booths representing Japanese and Japanese American organizations which are so vital to our community. Head into the Temple to try their delicious and unique Japanese specialties and sweet treats. Adults can cool off with a refreshing craft beer or, for a real Japanese experience, try the sake – Kampai ("Cheers")! The Denver Cherry Blossom Festival is the largest fundraiser for the operations and programs of both the Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple and Sakura Foundation, and relies on the volunteer efforts of Temple members, JA community members, and the general public alike. Check cherryblossomdenver.org often for updated details on the festival, including a list of marketplace vendors and live performances on the outdoor stage!
