Capturing solar energy in orbit and beaming it wirelessly to Earth, the technology known as space solar power, offers transformative value to the US energy sector. Our current grid faces rising demand, congestion, and aging infrastructure. While terrestrial renewables are essential, their intermittency requires massive, expensive energy storage overbuilds to maintain reliability. Space solar power helps mitigate these systemic challenges and is a perfect complementary solution to the load growth from electrification and AI data centers.

By harvesting sunlight above the atmosphere, space solar power provides controllable, high-availability capacity that complements nuclear, gas, renewables, and storage, directly addressing the grid reliability challenges we face right now.
