The Folds of Honor Freedom Cup with Nancy Lopez and Friends is an 18-hole, four-man scramble created to honor those who serve and defend our country, while raising
scholarship funds for the families of fallen and disabled veterans and first responders.
Golf legend, Nancy Lopez, serves on the Folds of Honor National board of directors. Born in California, Nancy Lopez grew up playing golf in Roswell, New Mexico. She won the New Mexico Women’s Amateur three times from 1969-1971, followed by the U.S. Girls Junior in 1972 and 1974. Lopez went on to play collegiate golf at the University of Tulsa, where she was named an All-American, Female Athlete of the Year. She
left college after her sophomore year and turned pro in 1977. Lopez became an LPGA Tour rookie in 1978, winning her first-ever tournament at the 1978 Bent Tree Classic. She went on to win eight more times that year, including her first major championship title at the 1978 Women’s PGA Championship. Lopez earned Rookie of the Year, Rolex Player of the Year and Vare Trophy honors, the only woman in LPGA Tour history to win all three in the same year. She went on to win 39 more times. Her last win came in 1997 at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship. In 1987, Lopez was inducted into the World Golf & LPGA Halls of Fame and last year she was inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame.
The Freedom Cup is hosted by the Folds of Honor South Texas Chapter. In partnership with each of our valued sponsors, donors and participants, the Chapter is leaving their footprint on the city of Houston and throughout South Texas. Your participation and support of The Freedom Cup creates
a platform which connects veterans and civilians, allowing them to network while providing a day of reverence and gratitude to all who serve our country as a member of the Armed Forces. We urge you to join our mission, become a wingman, and proudly stand with the FOH and South Texas Chapter.
