History at High Noon: Traces of Western Colorado from 1776 to 1876

Mesa County Libraries is happy to participate in the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commemoration as the nation celebrates 250 years of independence along with the 150 year anniversary of Colorado becoming a state. The Mesa County Oral History Meetings typically take place on a monthly basis at the Central Library in Grand Junction from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and are free of charge for the public to attend.

This presentation will focus on the history of areas in Mesa County and Montrose County during a 100-year time window from 1776 to 1876 that saw dramatic change and significant events.

Presenter Speaker Ike Rakiecki is a Librarian at Mesa County Libraries who is responsible for the Rashleigh Regional History Room at the Central Library. He enjoys researching local history and sharing what he finds.
