Every year on June 19th the SAAHC hosts a partner event to the larger community celebration. We serve the traditional red drinks and watermelon to all who pass by! This year we will be featuring the release of garden signs we are preparing through support for the Regional Arts Organization's Walking Together: supporting Folklife in communities of Color. These signs will share information on historical plant relationships associated with Black pioneers to Colorado: Aunt Clara Brown & plant medicines, Barney Ford & foodways, and Madam CJ Walker and beautification. Community members are invited to grow plants from our collection & learn the histories of how they were used by our ancestors.
