The Holdrege Midsummer Festival is a long-standing community tradition that celebrates the Swedish heritage of Phelps County while bringing people together through music, food, and shared experiences. Now in its 51st year, the festival continues to grow as one of central Nebraska’s largest and most anticipated events.

The 2026 theme, “From Sweden to America,” highlights the journey of early settlers who made their way from Sweden to Nebraska, honoring the courage, resilience, and sense of community that helped shape the region. That same spirit is reflected in today’s celebration.

Midsummer includes a full weekend of events such as a community kickoff, live music at the Sunset Concert, a Grand Parade, a Street Market with local vendors, car and motorcycle shows, and a Kids’ Zone designed for families. The festival is open to the public and welcomes both residents and visitors to experience the traditions and pride of the community.

The festival was recently recognized as an award-winning event, receiving the Outstanding Tourism Event award at the 2026 Nebraska Tourism Industry Awards. With strong local involvement from businesses, volunteers, and organizations, Midsummer continues to serve as a meaningful connection between the past and present, celebrating both heritage and the future of Holdrege.
