Explore the stories of Loyalist and British-allied civilians in the upper-Hudson and Mohawk Valleys during the American Revolution with a pair of presentations by local historians Anne Clothier and Tom Pettigrew, and an introduction by Johnson Hall State Historic Site Interpretive Programs Assistant Ian Mumpton.
When the violence of the Revolution came to upstate New York, many, including some of the most vulnerable people in society chose to oppose it. In picturing the Revolution, those who sided with the Crown are often broad brushed as wealthy elites, out of touch with the plight of poor Revolutionaries, but their actual backgrounds and experiences varied widely.
