In a year marked by extraordinary milestones, Goodtimes Dance Club invites the community to celebrate in grand style at Stars, Stripes & Summits: Where Two Birthdays Meet the Dance Floor. This special June event honors both the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood, bringing dancers together for an evening that blends history, heritage, and the unmistakable joy of live music. As one of Northern Colorado's longest‑standing social dance nonprofit organizations, Goodtimes Dance Club proudly marks 36 years of welcoming dancers of all ages and abilities to the floor.
The celebration takes place inside the newly renovated and beautifully restored Pulliam Community Building in downtown Loveland. Originally opened in 1938 and long considered one of the region's most iconic gathering spaces, the Pulliam has been thoughtfully revitalized through a major public–private effort. Today, its historic architecture, polished hardwood floors, and soaring ballroom create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and newly alive. Hosting this anniversary dance in such a landmark venue allows guests to experience a piece of Colorado history while contributing to the next chapter of its cultural life.
Music is at the heart of this event, and Colorado's rich big‑band legacy plays a starring role. The state has long been home to exceptional swing and jazz musicians, including the legendary Glenn Miller, who spent his formative years in Fort Morgan and assembled his very first band there. His influence helped shape the sound of an era, and his Colorado roots continue to inspire dancers and musicians across generations. In tribute to this heritage, the evening features a full lineup of big‑band favorites, ballroom classics, Latin rhythms, and swing standards performed by one of Colorado's premier dance ensembles. Whether you love the smooth glide of a foxtrot, the crisp energy of a tango, or the joyful lift of a swing tune, the music will keep the floor full and the evening unforgettable.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for a pre‑dance lesson designed to welcome newcomers and refresh seasoned dancers alike. As always, the Goodtimes Dance Club community fosters a warm, inclusive environment where partners are optional, smiles are abundant, and the shared love of music brings everyone together. The club's long tradition of volunteer‑supported hospitality continues with a community refreshment table — a beloved feature of Goodtimes events — where attendees may contribute small bites to share.
Stars, Stripes & Summits is more than a dance; it is a celebration of the stories, people, and places that make Colorado unique. It honors the nation's founding, the state's sesquicentennial, and the enduring power of music to connect us. Set against the backdrop of the Pulliam's historic grandeur, this event promises an evening of movement, memory, and mountain‑state pride.
