Water Festival “Crossing the Delaware”

A community patriotic event in Downsville, NY the site of one of the two Revolutionary War battle sites in what is now Delaware County. The free family-friendly event will feature Dr. Samantha Misa speaking about the Revolutionary War soldiers of Colchester and their contributions. The American Legion will discuss flag etiquette and plan for a Revolutionary reenactment village across the river from the Pepacton Paddle Park. Additional activities will include the unveiling of a Historic Site marker commemorating the Downs Brook Battle placed along Knox Avenue. The Colchester Historical Society will act out General Washington and his men's crossing of the Delaware River.

Event attendees can participate in six different artistic and creative workshops: creating tricorn hats, flying Ben Franklin-inspired kites and making old-fashioned ice cream. Live music provided by The Freestone Flood Band.
