Fourth of July celebrations are arguably the best part of summer with parades, hot dogs, music, fireworks, and family fun. Williamstown is no exception. We offer charming traditions with lots of space to spread out and celebrate the day—there's something for everyone!

Start your day with morning yoga and meditation. Tasha Yoga will lead you through a free class to start your day off on the right foot. Then find your spot on the grass to take in the local hometown parade. Cheer for your favorite community group as they march down Main and Spring Streets.

After the parade, everyone is invited to Walden Street to enjoy a free hotdog. Meet new friends and your neighbors and share a laugh or two during this traditional Williamtown community event, while a brass band plays patriotic tunes from the Post Office steps.

After, at Chapin Hall on the Williams College campus, experience a part of history as you listen to Williamstown Theatre Festival actors read the Declaration of Independence and excerpts from Frederick Douglass’ “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July.” The event also includes an introduction and reading from Shannon Holsey, President of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. This year, the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum will join the event, reading excerpts from the Declaration of The Rights of Women to Vote. Immediately following the readings, Williams College’s Special Collections will host open hours for the public to view the original founding documents in their collection. Then, it's onto Images Cinema to watch a free screening of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour with popcorn and air-conditioning!

Cap off an evening of fun and relaxation with a traditional fireworks display at the Taconic Golf Club. With sprawling green lawns and a picturesque landscape, the fairway provides the ideal backdrop for a dazzling pyrotechnic show.
