Denver, Colorado 80205 - 4:30 PM-7:00 PM
Youth from across Denver are invited to join the New Cottage Arts Youth Advisory Council for an evening of youth voice, creativity, and community dialogue.
"Youth Voice, Agency, & Belonging" brings together local youth and members of the Near Northeast Neighborhood Planning Initiative to create a space where young people can share ideas, reflect on their experiences, and help shape the future of their communities. Participants will engage in a facilitated community conversation with city planners about neighborhood priorities, followed by a creative writing workshop led by Denver Poet Laureate Ashley Cornelius exploring themes of identity, belonging, and community.
This event highlights the power of youth leadership and creative expression in civic life. Young people will also learn about opportunities to join the New Cottage Arts Youth Advisory Council, including paid youth leadership roles where students collaborate on community initiatives, events, and arts programming.
Food will be provided and all interested youth are welcome. This event is free and open to youth ages 14–21 and community members who support youth leadership.
As part of the America 250 – Colorado 150 commemoration, this gathering reflects on the role of youth voice in democracy and community building. By empowering young people to participate in civic dialogue and creative expression, the event celebrates Colorado's tradition of community engagement while encouraging the next generation to help shape the future of our state.
